Tell Obama To Federalize The Gulf Clean Up!

After 86 Days and many million barrels of oil released, BP has finally capped their blown-out deep sea well. However, it remains to be seen whether the cap can withstand the pressure in the long term. BP has failed to adequately provide for the clean up efforts, failed to prevent oil from spilling into the shores and salt marshes, bayous and byways. People of the Gulf are now calling for federalizing the clean up.

Further actions are needed for the clean up efforts:

• Federalize the disaster clean up;
• Order an immediate halt to the use of dispersants;
• Hold BP accountable for the clean up and impacts over the long term;
• Force full transparency of impact data and clean up efforts; and
• Ensure changes in regulations and oversight that will avert and prevent accidents in the future
